The Dunkin’ Donuts at 618 S Washington Street in Maryville, TN, underwent a significant renovation, transforming it into a “Next Generation” store. This renovation revitalized the historic Washington Street House, originally built in 1937, bringing a modern touch to the beloved coffee and donut shop. A structural evaluation and analysis of the existing house under current building code standards was performed. Some of the extensive structural renovations included removal of the existing second story to create an open ceiling from the first floor to the roof, an 800 square foot addition to the first floor, foundation design and wood design. This renovation not only modernizes the Dunkin’ experience but also breathes new life into a historic building, blending tradition with innovation.
