B.S. Civil Engineering: University of Missouri
M.Arch: Southern Illinois University
M.S. Civil Engineering: Missouri University of Science and Technology
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GO INTO STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING?
I have always loved figuring out how things worked and love solving problems. As a small child you would find me building with block, Legos, Lincoln logs or playing with wiring stereo systems as I got older. My father was a computer programmer and worked for a variety of companies such as NASA and Lockheed. I can remember many conversations with my dad discussing science, airplanes and other fascinating topics. My grandfather was a contractor and master craftsman building many influential buildings and unique homes across Mid-Missouri. He was very ingenuitive and I remember spending days out on his farm in his workshop tinkering with tractors or grabbing a ride in his backhoe. All of these experiences have led to my career in structural engineering where I can see my visions and ideas come to life in every project we complete.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD? WHY?
My favorite place in the world is my minivan with my family setting out on a great and chaotic adventure.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK OR MOVIE?
My favorite book is the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. My teacher read this to me as a child and it always brings me back to that childlike wonder and amazement when I delve into the Magical world of Narnia. As an adult I can see the teachings and parables of our savior in these fun and adventurous stories.
IF YOU COULD HAVE LUNCH WITH ANY ONE PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
My son Maxwell. Maxwell was called home early to our father in heaven and we would give anything to sit with him and watch him go to town on some pizza and fruit chunks one more time.
WHATS ON YOUR ‘BUCKET LIST?’
To travel to all 50 states with my family and see and experience our nation’s history and great natural wonders.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
I like to spend time with my family going to activities such as zoos, museums, air shows, state/national parks or farms. On weekends and holidays my wife always has a fully loaded plan of fun, educational and exciting activities prepared for our family.
WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?
My family! I have a wonderful wife and 7 crazy but amazing kids. I love spending time with them and experiencing life. I am passionate about preserving the childhood of our children and ensuring they grow up with values, morals and the passion to serve others and spread positivity wherever they may go.
IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Roseli’s Pizza, Carmel Indiana. Deep pan pizza with pepperoni, mushroom and an abundance of stretchy, gooey cheese with a caeser salad. This was my wife and my favorite place to eat when we lived in Indiana. They knew our order whenever we walked in.
