Jerry Rogers

senior structural engineer

WHERE DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL?
The University of Vermont.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GO INTO STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING?
Even though I’m a building structural engineer I was first fascinated with a documentary on bridging the Mississippi River that described all the engineering design that went into constructing a bridge. Eventually I had to pick a career path and there seemed to be more opportunities to learn about different construction material and ended going with building designs.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD? WHY?
Next to my wife Laura. She makes any place better.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK OR MOVIE?
American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It’s a great novel of a mixture of American culture with fantasy with various pieces of ancient and modern mythology. My favorite movie would have to be Big Fish, the story and the beautiful imagery is hard to beat by any other film.

IF YOU COULD HAVE LUNCH WITH ANY ONE PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
My mom or brother. Since they passed there have been so many things I’ve wanted to ask them or places I would have loved to have experienced with them.

WHATS ON YOUR ‘BUCKET LIST?’
I want to take my wife to Zion and Glacier National Parks to hike and camp.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
I used to love to long distance run before life got crazy with a baby. Hopefully soon I can start working on my goal to complete a marathon.

WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?
I love getting to know people on a personable level. Most of the time you’re rushing through life and don’t get to connect with people.

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Buffalo Chicken Wings from Duff’s in Amhurst, NY or a Roasted Pork Sandwich from Mama’s Pizzeria (they no longer make pizza) in Bala Cynwyd, PA.

WHAT THREE WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOU?
Inquisitive, caring, and analytical.
