WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GO INTO ENGINEERING?
I didn’t consider engineering until a friend in college told me about this program called Engineering Missions International (EMI). It’s a program where you live and do engineering work in a less developed country. It’s also an opportunity to share about who Jesus is to those around the world who may never have an opportunity to hear. The program needed civil engineers the most and that’s when I decided to go into engineering.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE IN KNOXVILLE? WHY? 
If I had to choose just one place, it’d be Market Square. I love going with my wife for any occasion. There’s always something going on, always lots of people out, and a ton of amazing places to eat. I also love seeing that our city is flourishing and people still love getting out and being a part of the community.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK OR MOVIE?
I’m going to go with a book series to cheat a little bit. But the older I get, I still love the Harry Potter series. I think the themes of the book are timeless and winsome. Rowling portrays everyone with character faults, so it feels honest and frustrating at times. The themes of sacrifice, friendship, redemption, and value (of all people) are incredible and timeless. I still learn and pick up on new things the more I read them.

IF YOU COULD HAVE LUNCH WITH ANY ONE PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
This is the hardest question on here. I’m going to say a guy named Matthew Johnson. He’s not my brother, but he is one of my best friends. He lives far away and we haven’t seen each other in years. It’s getting harder to find time to talk on the phone, so I’d enjoy catching up with him over a meal.

WHAT’S ON YOUR “BUCKET LIST?”
I really want to go spectate at the Olympics one day. I love the Games and would love to watch them in person.

WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?
I’m most passionate about my faith. I am very thankful for the life God has given me and love learning more and more about who Jesus is and what he has done for his people.

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Probably pizza. I can eat tons of pizza and still not get tired of it. There are a lot of better meals out there, but I know I’d get tired of them after a week or so.
